York Region Community Food Assessment
A community food assessment examines food-related issues with the goal of improving the local food system. The community food assessment process engages people from non-profit groups, governmental agencies, local businesses and the community to explore concerns, strengths and priorities to inform food-related policies and programs in a local community.

Since 2011, the York Region Food Charter Working Group has been working in York Region communities to learn how residents view the local food system. The York Region Food Charter Working Group embarked on a community food assessment journey in 2014 in order to take us to the next phase of this initiative, ensuring we have data and numbers to help further our work.
